AUGUSTA —  The Midcoast Babe Ruth League participated in the statewide 13-15 year-old Babe Ruth all-star baseball tournament at the CARA Complex (Morton and McGuire Fields) in Augusta.

The Midcoast team consisted of A.J. Giberson and Micah Tomasello from the Damariscotta Lions; Josh Blake, Porter Gahagan, Gabe Lash and Sam Moody from Waldoboro and Blade Brann, Dominic Frisone, Bryson Mattox, Taygan McAllister, Gavin Ripley, Gilbert Stewart, Jacob Watkinson and Dylan Winslow from Rockland Ford.

Don Shields from Rockland Ford was the team’s manager, while Allen Tomasello and Matt Moody from Waldoboro served as coaches.

The Midcoast team is eliminated from the tournament.

Game 1: Midcoast 11, Capital Area 10 (Thursday)

Game 2: Midcoast 9, Saco Bay 0 (Friday) 

Midcoast plated one run in the second inning, two in the fourth, three in the fifth and three in the sixth. 

At the plate for Midcoast were Winslow (walk, run), Gahagan (walk, run), Tomasello (walk, hit-by-pitch, two runs), Moody (single, run), Lash (hit-by-pitch), Brann (two singles, run), Mattox (run), Blake (single, run) and Giberson (single, run). 

Watkinson recorded six innings of shutout baseball for Midcoast. 

Game 3: Skowhegan/Central Maine 14, Midcoast 11 (Saturday)

Midcoast plated one run in the first inning, three in the second, two in the third, three in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the seventh. 

Skowhegan/Central Maine plated one run in the second, one in the third, eight in the fourth and four in the sixth. 

At the plate for Midcoast were McAllister (single, run), Blake (single, run), Giberson (walk, run), Gahagan (single, double, run), Tamasello (two walks, two singles, three runs), Lash (single, run), Brann (run), Moody (single), Winslow (walk, run) and Stewart (walk, run). 

Game 4: Capital Area 9, Midcoast 8 (Saturday)

Midcoast plated two runs in the first inning, two in the second, two in the fifth, one in the sixth and one in the seventh. 

Capital Area plated one run in the second inning, two in the third, one in the fourth, four in the fifth and one in the sixth. 

At the plate for Midcoast were Giberson (walk), Watkinson (single, walk, two runs), Ripley (two singles, walk, run), Tomasello (walk), Moody (walk), Winslow (single, run) and Mattox (two singles, three runs).
