Maine Maritime Academy training ship pulls into port after 68-day European tour

CASTINE –- Maine Maritime Academy training ship, State of Maine, returns to its home port of Castine following the annual 68-day training cruise.
Monday, July 7 a view of the ship from Castine Harbor is expected at approximately 11:30 a.m. with docking anticipated at approximately 1:30 pm. Training cruise activity will continue in port through Wednesday, July 9.
Maine Maritime Academy students, officers, and crew departed Castine on Wednesday, May 7 to visit European ports as part of the college’s annual two-month training cruise to foreign and domestic ports of call. This year’s training cruise itinerary included Trieste, Italy; Reykjavik, Iceland; Kiel, Germany; Portsmouth, New Hampshire; and Searsport, Maine.Well-wishers are welcomed and encouraged to view the vessel’s return from the Maine Maritime Academy waterfront. Maine Maritime Academy occupies 244 students, 15 faculty and staff, 15 officers, 15 food service personnel.
