I just sent the following message to Susan Collins:

Where does this end, Senator Collins? The two-against-one pile-on of Vance and Trump against Zelensky was a disgrace.

Diplomacy? Two loud bullies with the upper hand hectoring the beleaguered leader of a nation at war — supposedly an ally. They pounded him with questions and wouldn't listen to the answers.

Young know-it-all Vance was once again seen to lecture a European leader.

I fear that this show was a prelude to Trump and Putin teaming up behind the scenes to push Zelensky out: what we saw today was a naked, reckless, heartless, and shameless display of power.

Do you see what damage Trump and Co. are doing to our country, both at home and as regards our standing in the world? They are dangerous and need to be confronted, particularly by members of their own party, who once cared for our government, our privacy, our liberty, and the rule of law.

I'm sure you know this situation is not normal, healthy, or sustainable. You voted to impeach Trump--you know who he is. As a member of congress you carry a grave responsibility to protect our norms.

Please stand up publicly and do so.
