Saving our democracy together
On Presidents’ Day, I really wanted to march in Augusta to show up for Democracy. I would have marched not only for and with my fellow Democrats, but for those Republicans as well who realized they have been duped. However, I am about as old as Trump, have had three joint replacements and spent the morning clearing and shoveling eight inches of ice and snow.
So, instead of marching, I will use my words.
Democracy isn’t a “thing” that just Democrats hold dear. It is a governmental structure that we ALL count on to promote, provide for and practice; fairness, equality, prosperity and opportunity. Our expression and practice of Democracy may differ, but we ALL cherish the basic principles regardless of our political and religious affiliations. Our Democracy is what we ALL have in common.
To lose Democracy is to lose ourselves, our communities and our country. Isn’t that worth marching for, showing up for, and standing up for in any way you can?
