Dear Senator Collins,

Where is your voice in support of Ukraine? We need to hear it — and hear it multiple times!

The lie uttered by our current president that Ukraine started the war cannot go unchallenged. The idea that Zelensky, representing Ukrainians, is not even included at the peace table is an abomination. Russia and the US are discussing a “settlement” without Ukraine! Have we not learned anything from history? How is this not like European countries carving up Africa resulting in a century or more of conflict or our government pushing the native Americans off their own land? 

Where is your voice in support of Ukraine? Trump is currently demanding that Ukraine hand over half of their rare earth minerals to pay us for our support of Ukraine. When Congress approved this money supporting Ukraine, it was no strings attached.  This sounds like extortion.  It sounds eerily similar to the President’s 1st term, when he demanded of Zelensky to find some dirt on the Biden Family and Burisma in return for unfreezing US funds supporting Ukraine. Didn’t we hold impeachment hearings concerning this?  

History shows us that THIS WILL BE A DISASTER for our country, Ukraine, and our other European allies. There will be no good outcomes unless there is a genuine attempt to settle this war with all parties present and without the threats of extortion or quid pro quos.  Senator Collins, Where is your voice in support of Ukraine?
