Art Paine and "Regatta in Paradise" begin 2024-25 Come Boating Winter Adventure Series
BELFAST — Come Boating! Belfast’s Community Boating Organization and the Belfast Free Library are teaming up once again to offer the Winter Adventure Series. This year the series of four programs about adventures on the waters will begin in December 2024. All of the programs will be offered in person in the Abbott Room of the Belfast Free Library with a Zoom option.
On Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 6:30 p.m., the first in the series will feature a presentation by Art Paine titled, Regatta in Paradise. Every year Art Paine and his wife, Carey, escape the winter blahs by helping organize the famous Family Islands Regatta in the Bahamas. These unique, roughly built wooden boats, traditionally used for fishing and commerce gather each spring to race each other for cash prizes and has grown into an event with a hundred beautiful sailboats.
"Art will present his incredible photos and videos of this very colorful and exciting gathering," said Come Boating, in a news release.

Coming up in the series: January 21 - the Scillies Island Race; February 18 - A trip to the Farro Islands with Marcy Richardson; and March 18 - Scallop Farming with Andrew Peters.
