HOPE — The public is invited to next meeting of the Hope Historical Society, Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, at 479 Camden Road, Hope. 

There will be a brief meeting at 6:30 p.m., followed by guest speaker, Peter Ogden, director of the Maine Armed Forces Museum.

The doors to the Marine Military Historical Society opened in 1988 in building 6, an old renovated horse and mule barn at Camp Keyes. In 2013 the Maine Legislature named MMHS the State of Maine's official Military History Museum in law, changed the name to the Maine Armed Forces Museum and tasked the museum to tell the story of all Maine Veterans. In 2019 the museum moved to its current newly renovated facility, building 5 at Camp Keyes. On display are artifacts and objects in the collection from the revolutionary war to the current wars.
