HOPE — The public is invited to attend the next meeting of the Hope Historical Society, Tuesday, June 18, at the Hope Historical House, 479 Camden Road. There will be a business meeting at 6:30 p.m., followed by speaker Cindy DellaPenna at 7 p.m.

Cindy DellaPenna will present a PowerPoint discussion on the original lot owners of Barrettstown/Hope, using information from deeds, maps, the 1814 property tax assessment, and early Town Clerk records. DellaPenna has researched every lot based on the 1799 survey prepared by John Harkness, surveyor for the 20 Associates. She has prepared an Excel spreadsheet reflecting grantor/grantee information with deed reference, lot description, sale price, and year; this reference source will be provided to the Hope Historical Society for future reference. 

There will be a discussion of the mills and occupations of our early settlers. If time permits, there will be a tie-in discussion of access to the Morey Hill Cemetery interactive map.
