BELFAST — Auditions for Midcoast Actors' Studio's production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time will be Saturday, Jan 19 and 20, from 6 to 9 p.m., with callbacks January 28, 6 - 9 p.m.

Auditions will be held at Troy Howard Middle School, Belfast. They will consist of cold readings from the script and some movement, so wear comfortable clothes, according to a news release.

All roles are available EXCEPT Christopher and Ed. 

Rehearsals will start March 1 and will be Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays at Troy Howard Middle School, from 6 to 10 p.m.  Some alternate rehearsal dates may be scheduled as well. 

Performances will be April 26 - May 5 at the Crosby Center, Belfast. 

STORY: Christopher, fifteen years old, stands beside Mrs. Shears's dead dog. It has been speared with a garden fork, it is seven minutes after midnight, and Christopher is under suspicion. He records each fact in the book he is writing to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington. He has an extraordinary brain and is exceptional at math, but he is ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched, and he distrusts strangers. But Christopher's detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that turns his world upside-down. 

Judy Boone: Female; age range late 30’s-45. Christopher’s mother. Christopher believes she died prior to the time when the play begins.

Siobhan: Female; age range 30-60. Christopher’s teacher and mentor at school. One of the few people whom Christopher trusts and opens up to. Pronunciation: shiv-ON; shiv – rhymes with GIVE; ON – rhymes with GONE

Mrs. Shears: Female; flexible age range 30’s-50. Christopher’s neighbor, owner of the dog Wellington discovered dead at the beginning of the play.

Roger Shears: Male; flexible age range 30’s-50. Mrs. Shear’s ex-husband.

A Policeman in Swindon: Male; flexible age range 20‘s-40’s.

Reverend Peters: Male; flexible age range 45-60’s. A priest and teacher at Christopher’s school.

Mrs. Alexander: Female; age range 50’s-70’s. An older lady, one of Christopher’s neighbors.

Many additional smaller roles will divided up among the cast.
