The public is invited to learn from a Friends of Maine Coastal Islands National Wildlife Refuge summer island intern, who lived 24/7 on remote islands in the Gulf of Maine, about working with the elusive Aleutian terns in Alaska’s outermost islands.

The Midcoast Umpire Association of Maine (MUA) will be providing training for interested new members, or individuals looking to learn more about the game of baseball or softball.  The association assists with providing professional, quality officiating to local baseball and softball teams, grades 7 to 12, as well as to local youth amateur leagues, including Babe Ruth Baseball, Cal Ripken Baseball, and Little League Baseball/Softball.

CAMDEN — The start of the 2025 U.S. National Toboggan Championships begins Jan. 31, and the field of 400 racers is nearly full.

Planning for the 34th annual event is in full gear and many teams are busy building toboggans and trying to figure out the best bottom-finish for the fastest times. Soon, more than 1,000 enthusiastic racers from around the country will make the trek to Camden, Maine, Jan. 31-Feb. 2, to join the fun and race down the 440-foot toboggan chute.

CAMDEN — "What happens when you bring together ice carving, a polar plunge, fashionable pets, spectacular kids' activities, fun music, and delicious local food on a winter’s day? That's right - Camden Winterfest!" said Camden Public Library, in a news release.

The 22nd annual Camden Winterfest will take place on Saturday, January 25, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with all of the beloved traditions, plus bonus features including live jazz and a book sale, and more hot food and treats than ever…

CAMDEN — Join Sundog Outdoor Leadership Initiative on Saturday, January 25, at 10:30 a.m., as they host their 7th annual Polar Plunge fundraiser as part of Camden Winterfest.

"From humble beginnings in 2019, this event has only grown and grown as the wild and craziest part of Winterfest," said Sundog, in a news release.

Last year, nearly 100 people took on the frigid waters of Camden Harbor, and Sundog is hoping even more will take on the plunge this year.…

Under the lights at Don Palmer Field Friday, Nov. 8, the Camden Hills Windjammers faced the Mt. Ararat Eagles in one of two eight-man football semifinal games.

Camden had beaten Ararat earlier in the regular season, needing a 24-point comeback to win by a final score of 36-30.

But, Mt. Ararat Eagles would dominate Camden Hills and not allow a comeback this time, winning by a score of 48-12.

Camden Hill's eight-man football team will be a rematch of Camden's comeback victory earlier this year (36-30).

ROCKPORT - At a home Class A semifinal game Oct. 31, Camden Hills Regional High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team faced a familiar foe(and not just because it's another mountain team!) playing against Mt. Ararat, whom Camden beat in one of their closest matches of the season, 3-0, in September. 

Coming on the heels of Camden’s dominant win over Mt. Blue Oct. 29, CHILLS head coach Meredith Messer said the team played, "very well."

Lighthouses may be beacons of light and hope for some; for others, they are haunted places. With their rugged seaside locations, connection to shipwrecks, and other maritime accidents during storms, not to mention the association of loneliness and madness that some lighthouse keepers experienced, it's only fitting that lighthouses are the subject of ghostly tales.
