BLUE HILL — Brothers Peter and Warren Galloway sailed to a first-place finish in the Club 420 State Championship held in Blue Hill on Aug. 4 and 5.

Representing the Camden Area Youth Seamanship Program, the Galloway duo came out in first place at the end of Day One in the face of high winds and stiff competition.

The second day proved even more challenging with other boats chipping away at their four-point lead and gusts increasing throughout the afternoon.

In the end, however, the Galloway's held on to a first-place standing by just two points.

According to Peter Galloway, “It was a fantastic day of sailing with a lot of enthusiasm and great sportsmanship all around.”

Having raced for over four years with the Rockland Community Sailing team, both sailors have developed into strong and consistent skippers and crew. Summertime brings them both to Camden, where they teach the basics to young sailors through the Camden Area Youth Seamanship Program.

Entering their senior year at Watershed School, both Peter and Warren are looking forward to a strong season on the high school circuit this fall and spring before taking their talents to the college level.
