BELFAST — Again this year, Triad of Waldo County is collecting gently used coats, blankets, mittens, hats, and anything warm as part of their Warm Coat Project. These items will be available during the Neighbor for Neighbor Christmas basket distribution Saturday, Dec. 20, through Waldo Community Action Partners.

Collection baskets will be in place through mid December at the Waldo County YMCA, the Belfast Police Department, First Church in Belfast, the Searsport Safety Building, and the Prospect town office.

These items should be in clean, good condition.

Each year the Warm Coat Project "angels" place brand new children's coats and leggings in the boxes. Each time Triad staff find a bundle in the box it brings a tear to their eyes, according to a news release.

Blankets, sweaters, hats, mittens and gloves are also appreciated by those who can't keep their homes as warm as they'd like.
