ROCKLAND – A Waldoboro man is being held at the Knox County Jail after he was arrested Feb. 6 by Rockland Police for allegedly sexually assaulting a child.
Richard Turner, 60, made his initial appearance in Knox County Court Feb. 7 on the charges of sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact.
Judge Sarah Gilbert set his bail at $25,000 cash.
Turner’s arrest stems from an incident that allegedly occurred in December 2024 and was reported to Rockland Police Feb. 4 by the mother of the victim.
Police said that Turner did not deny the allegations and consented to a DNA swab.
Turner is scheduled to appear in court again on April 17 for a dispositional conference.
