Tickets are still available for inaugural Barnstormers Ball in Owls Head, Aug. 23
OWLS HEAD — The public is invited to attend the Owls Head Transportation Museum’s inaugural Barnstomers Ball this Saturday, Aug. 23, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Proceeds from this grand gala affair will benefit museum education programs both onsite and in the community. Tickets are $100 each, and a limited number will be sold.
Dappers, Dames and Fly Boys alike are invited to this ritzy affair set to the backdrop of WWI era aircraft and ground vehicles. Breathtaking WWI aircraft flyovers, a specialty silent auction, music and period-inspired games will add panache to this 1920s-themed gala reflecting the era.
Aerial demonstrations will greet party-goers as they enjoy a libation as they take in the sight and sound of barnstorming-era planes from famous Runway 17. Under the direction of A. Watson Design, the main display area will be transformed into a grand party space inspired by the opulent elegance of the 1920s.
The Wright Brothers Room will be dedicated to the barnstormers, taking cues from those daring early aviators notorious for their appearances in rural communities where they would typically use a farmer's field as a base of operations.
Chef Kerry Altiero of Rockland's Cafe Miranda will use the finest local ingredients available to prepare a menu of dazzling hors d’oeuvres showcasing the bounty of the season. Chef Altiero's offerings will be complemented by specialty cocktails, beer, wine and oysters courtesy of Graffam Brothers Seafood Market in Rockport.
Mingle with friends in your finest 1920s-inspired garb while enjoying up-close viewing of signature collection aircraft and automobiles.
Tony Boffa Music Presents: The Carmine Terracciano Band will have the crowd dancing the night away to the sounds of their nine-piece show and dance band.
A small, highly-curated silent auction will invite guests to bid on getaway packages and high-end items from some of Maine's finest artisans. Items and packages from Michael Good Fine Jewelry, Thomas Michaels Designs, artist Marianne Smith, The Haraseeket Inn, the Inn by the Sea, The Samoset Resort, Norumbega Inn, Cellardoor Winery, The Youngtown Inn, and many more are sure to pique the interest of every guest.
Following the close of silent auction bidding, a riveting three-item live auction headlined by a CedarWorks "Frolic 21" playset will commence.
The winner of the sold-out raffle for a 1951 MG TD will be drawn.
