Senate must reject Linda McMahon
The U.S. Senate must reject Linda McMahon’s nomination to serve as U.S. Secretary of Education.
As evidenced by the U.S. Senate confirmation hearing this week, Linda McMahon lacks the qualifications, experience, and judgment required to oversee our nation's education system.
The Secretary of Education should champion public schools, protect our students from discrimination, and ensure equal opportunity for all. Linda McMahon has no experience making decisions about K-12 education, student loans, or special education – key qualifications to running the Department of Education (DOE).
In my role as professional school counselor working in a public school in Maine, I witness first hand how children with learning and other disabilities benefit from services such as speech or occupational therapy, which are services paid for with federal funding from the DOE.
We need an Education Secretary who we can trust to protect and uplift all students.
I urge Senator King and Senator Collins to vote NO on this nomination.
