Schoodic Arts Festival July 27 – August 10 in Winter Harbor
WINTER HARBOR -- The Schoodic Peninsula comes alive with arts events in July and August. The Schoodic Arts Silent Auction kicks off the festival with over 300 items, most made by area craftspeople, on July 27 at 2 p.m. From that date until Aug. 10 there are events every day and every evening.
Performances include, Bumbershoot - Pepin Mittlehauser & Emma Walsh Fiddle, mandolin, and guitar, playing traditional and contemporary Celtic and French-Canadian Tunes; Cape Bretton Kitchen Party; Acadian Celidh - Step Dance Music party; Honky Tonk Confidential retro and alt Country/western/rockabilly performance and dance; 4 Cryin’ Out Loud - Acapella quartet, madrigals to Motown and spirituals to jazz; Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers; Pecha Kucha - The Gen Y Demographic – Pecha Kucha is Japanese for Chit Chat, Concise, rapid, exciting - each presenter has 20 slides and 20 seconds each to talk about them; and The Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium.
These evening performances are at 7 p.m. every night from July 28 through Aug. 10 at Schoodic Arts for All, Main Street, Winter Harbor. $5 kids FREE.
Free Brown Bag Lunch events are held every day at noon at the Prospect Harbor Community Center. Bring or buy a lunch, and munch while enjoying a concert or demo.
Workshop genres include cooking, craft, dance, fiber arts, interdisciplinary arts, jewelry, music, sculpture, theater, visual art, and writing. Fifty per cent off NEW workshops are offered each year, so the festival is always fresh.
