Roberta "Bobbie" Belkin, obituary
CAMDEN — Roberta "Bobbie" Deanna Belkin, of Camden, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 2. Born in Ainsworth, Nebraska, Bobbie’s life journey was one of remarkable kindness, generosity, and adventure.
Bobbie dedicated much of her life to nursing, a career defined by compassion and selflessness. She began as a staff nurse at the University of Nebraska Student Health Center, where she met her future husband, Herbert Allen Belkin, while he was recovering from an illness over Christmas break. She not only helped him heal but also found the love of her life.
Over the years, Bobbie became a leader in her field, serving as a team leader and relief night supervisor at Palm Drive Hospital in Sebastopol, California, and sharing her knowledge as an instructor in pediatrics and mentor to nursing students. For a time, she also pursued real estate, always eager to connect with and help others in meaningful ways.
Together with Herb, Bobbie traveled the world, grew to become a passionate conservationist and benefactor of the arts, and built a life filled with family, friendship, and adventure.
Bobbie is survived by her two sons, Matt and Greg, as well as her beloved grandchildren—Maveric, Emelia, Hayden, Riley, and Taylor—who brought light to her life. She cherished every visit with them and supported their education and health with unwavering love and generosity. She is also survived by her sisters, Sandy and Kathy, with whom she shared a lifelong bond of love and support.
She treasured her extended family, including Jill, AJ, Kyle, Matt, and Harrison, and valued the deep connections that spanned generations and distances. Bobbie’s close friendships brought her joy, particularly her dinners at Primo with Larry, Isa, and Cristina, where laughter and good food were always shared.
Bobbie loved the simple joys of life in Maine—taking drives through its beautiful landscapes, enjoying the natural beauty of the state, and finding comfort in the warmth of her close-knit community.
Her passion for giving back extended to causes close to her heart, especially the Camden Public Library, where donations may be made in her honor to celebrate her love of reading, learning, and connection.
A celebration of Bobbie’s life will take place in early Spring 2025 in Camden, allowing family and friends to gather and remember her remarkable spirit.
