Megunticook Rowing finishes winter season at C.R.A.S.H. B. Sprints
BOSTON — On Sunday, March 5, 2023 Megunticook Rowing competed at the C.R.A.S.H. B. Sprints at the TRACK at New Balance.
C.R.A.S.H. B. stands for the Charles River Association of Sculling Has-Beens and the prize for first place in each event is a hammer.
Megunticook’s first competitors of the day were Flora Gurdon and Amy Mitchell. In the women’s U19 500 meter sprint, Gurdon finished 1st in 2:02.1 minutes. In the women’s open 500 meter sprint, Mitchell competed against two women from the Ukrainian team and finished 5th in 1:52.2.
Megunticook also competed in a women's relay where junior rower Maggie Gill, Mitchell, Gurdon, and coach Olivia Goodwin-Cook finished 5th in 1:54.5.
For their afternoon events, Megunticook had another hammer winner as Goodwin-Cook finished 1st in 1:58.2 in the lightweight women’s 24-49 & under 500 meter sprint. In the men’s U19 2000 meter event, junior rower Cabot Adams finished 15th out of 49 rowers in 6:45.7. In the women’s U19 2000 meter event, Gill finished 18th in 7:48.5.
This competition wraps up Megunticook Rowing’s winter season. They will return to competition in the spring season.
