Our 6th Annual Paws for the Cause fundraiser was our most successful yet, raising $9,000.00 for local Breast Cancer Charities. To date, the Paw for the Cause program has now raised $35,500.00 for support of local Breast Cancer Charities and patients. None of that would have been possible without the tremendous community support and involvement that this event continues to receive each and every year.

We’d like to thank the following local businesses who sponsored our tee shirts this season including, Andes Variety, Colby & Gale, Fisher Engineering, Green Thumb, Hampton Inn, Haskell’s Water Treatment, Hillside Collision, Machias Savings Bank, Maple Lane Builders, Maritime Energy, Mic Mac Market, Moody’s Diner, Prock Marine, Quirk Chevrolet-GMC, RZR Ace Hardware Waldoboro, Simmons Lobster Wharf, Viking Lumber, and the Waldoboro Business Park. We’d also like to thank everyone who made generous donations to our Wall of Paws – donations that ranged in size from $1.00 to $500.00.

Thank you to the members of our local media – both radio and print who continue to do such an exceptional job to help promote our event, and then cover it as well.

To the members of the All Sports Boosters, the many volunteers who helped plan and participate in the events as well as the Medomak Valley administration, office staff and coaching staffs – thank you so much for your patience, support, and hard work. We couldn’t do it without you. And to our opponents – the Maranacook Black Bears and the Oceanside Mariners, thank you both for your financial contributions and helping to create such a great atmosphere for these two evenings as well.

But it is our winter student athletes that are truly responsible for making this fundraiser what it has grown to become. It is your willingness to embrace “the cause” that enables us to provide financial assistance to families in Knox and Lincoln Counties while they are going through the challenges associated with cancer treatment. You are great role models for your community. You should be extremely proud of yourselves. You continue to amaze us each year. Thank you for your great work.
