Medomak Valley basketball to host 6th annual Paws for the Cause games
WALDOBORO — For a sixth year, the Medomak Valley varsity basketball teams will host “Paws for the Cause” contests to benefit the Maine Breast Cancer Charities.
The girls team will host its benefit night Monday, Jan. 16 when the Panthers host Maranacook while the boys will host its benefit night Saturday, Jan. 21 against Oceanside. Both games tip at 6 p.m.
For these games, the Medomak Valley teams will wear special pink uniforms, and commemorative t-shirts will be available for students and fans to purchase in the days before the game and at the game.
In addition to shirt sales, other fundraising will take place prior to, and during the game as well as an opportunity to add one’s Personalized Pink Paw to the wall for a $1 donation. The evening’s 50/50 drawings and all other proceeds will go to the Maine Breast Cancer Charities in Midcoast Maine.
“We’re excited to build upon the overwhelming success of our five previous events,” said Gayle Murphy, Paws for the Cause event coordinator. “We’ve raised $26,500.00 for Maine Breast Cancer Charities over the past five years and hope to continue to build upon that this year”.
