LINCOLNVILLE — Join Marine Mammals of Maine (MMoME) as they take you through a seal’s journey from stranding to release, and all the obstacles in between, Wednesday, July 17, at 6 p.m., at Lincolnville Community Library.

Through real-life stories, videos and photos, this program will introduce seal basics such as whether it’s normal for seals to be out of the water and why you might see a baby on its own. The presentation will then dive into when and why seals need our help. You will learn what MMoME is, what they do, the animals they care for, and how you can help. 

Marine Mammals of Maine

Marine Mammals of Maine responds to stranded marine mammals and sea turtles in southern and Midcoast Maine, cares for sick, injured and abandoned seals from all over New England, studies East coast marine mammal populations, and educates about global marine mammal conservation.

As charismatic species and sentinels of ocean health, marine mammals represent an effective avenue to garner public attention for conservation and to cultivate environmental stewardship for Maine’s coast.

MMoME’s mission further includes extensive education and outreach to Maine’s youth, coastal communities, and tourists. Promoting marine conservation and inspiring marine stewardship is a critical component of our work.

“A Seal’s Journey” is presented by Marine Mammals of Maine through a generous Camden Rotary Foundation grant designated for children’s programming at the Lincolnville Community Library.
