Gregory T. Adams, obituary
ROCKLAND — Gregory T. Adams, 78, died peacefully, following a long battle with Muscular Dystrophy, Friday, December 27, 2024 at Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport. Born in Abington, Pennsylvania, he was the son of John and Angeline Adams.
Greg grew up in Willow Grove where he attended local schools. He served for a brief time in the U.S. Air Force until being honorably discharged due to his developing medical condition.
Greg spent several years working as a metal fabricator and welder in Pennsylvania until the limitations of his illness took over in 1980. While living in Pennsylvania, Greg enjoyed photography, cars, exploring, target shooting, and visiting places like the Jersey boardwalks, flea markets, and various parks. Most of all, Greg enjoyed spending time with his family, taking his daughters fishing and teaching them everything he knew about cars.
In the mid 1990’s, he spent a few years living in Carlsbad, California taking advantage of the beautiful weather and scenery there before moving back to Pennsylvania in 1996. Having vacationed with his family in Owls Head in the 1970’s, Greg moved to Maine permanently in late 1990’s living in Rockport until buying a house in Tenants Harbor. Later he relocated to Rockland where he has resided and has enjoyed the companionship of his partner, Linda May Porter, since 2008.
Greg and Linda have shared many happy memories over the years. They enjoyed spending time watching movies together and taking care of their amazing cat, Vinny. Just being together was their favorite place to be. Greg was an avid photographer and enjoyed taking beautiful pictures of his family and printing out life-size photos for Linda. Linda remembers Greg always being grateful and kind to her for the love and care she gave him. Greg referred to Linda as his angel and the love of his life. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
Predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Katherine Adams; Greg is survived by his companion, Linda May Porter of Rockland; his daughters, Kimberly L. Adams and her companion Reginald of Florida, Melissa L. King and her husband Martin King, II of Cushing; his brother, Nicholas Adams of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania; and six grandchildren, Martin, III, Sierra, Logan, Riley, Colton and Aislinn King.
In keeping with Greg’s wishes, his family will remember his life privately.
