ROCKLAND — Glendelyn D. Oxton, 99, died peacefully, Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at the Sussman House in Rockport with her loving family at her side. 

Born in Patten, March 10, 1925, she was the daughter of Albert and Sarah Grant Cochran. Glen resided in Patten until moving to Thomaston where she lived with her aunt while working at the pants factory. During the summers she enjoyed living and working on North Haven as a waitress.  

On June 29, 1947, Glen married the love of her life, Lee B. Oxton in Thomaston. Together they resided in Warren until 1970 when they moved to Rockland to the home Glen resided in until her passing.  

For over 25 years, Glen worked as a housekeeper and nanny with the Rochester Family of Glen Cove. Always one to look out for others, Glen later cared for her parents during their declining years. A devoted volunteer, she spent countless hours volunteering at the St. Bernard’s Soup Kitchen, Shore Village Nursing Home and with Kno-Wal-Lin. Always active, she could be seen daily going for a walk around Rockland.  

Later in life, Glen was an active and strong member of the Warren Baptist Church where she served as the ‘official’ greeter and hug giver. Although her frame was small, her hugs were mighty! 

She will be sadly missed by all who loved her. 

Predeceased by her husband, Lee, in 2005; her siblings, Kenneth Cochran, Charlene Thompson, Herwood Cochran, John Cochran, Frederick Cochran, Melford Cochran, Alfred Cochran, Delford Cochran, Gerald Cochran, Hazel Huntley, Jenny Huntley; Glendelyn is survived by a sister, Marie Hamilton of Prospect, Connecticut; a sister-in-law who was like a sister, Cecelia Welch and her husband Rev. Dr. Linwood Welch of Rockland; and her closest friend, Alice Vardaro of West Gardiner, who Glen enjoyed talking with on the phone daily; as well as many nieces and nephews and a large, loving extended family. 

In keeping with Glen’s wishes, she will be buried in the Patten Cemetery, Patten, Maine.
