Fifteen years of Jammer football to be celebrated, recognized
Fri, 08/25/2023 - 9:15am
Camden Hills Regional High School will host its annual Homecoming game versus Greely High School on Friday night, September 8, at Don Palmer Field. Although an early date for a homecoming match-up, it is never too early to recognize the collective group of alumni that have graced the red, white and black of Windjammer football. Friday night lights for Camden Hills homecoming is an event now safely steeped into the tradition of Jammer Football, with stands full of parents and students of the home team and visitors.
The program is at the strongest and most stable point in its history in Year 15, with playoff appearances in 4 of the past 5 played seasons (2020 was cancelled for all schools in Maine due to the COVID-19 pandemic).
The change to 8-man football in 2021 has played well into the hands of earnest students and coaches marked by roster numbers exceeding 40 players rolling into 2023.
Coach Chris Christie's squad is able to play a full Junior Varsity schedule, crucial for development of younger players skill and confidence without being rushed into varsity action. Healthy on field rivalries with Morse and Waterville are growing as players, coaches and fans circle these games on the calendar nowadays. The Varsity Jammers return 2022 all conference honorees such as Mason Thomas (Defensive Lineman), Cam Lawrence (Tight End) and J.T. Johndro (Linebacker).
With a roster of 20 plus upperclassmen, this shapes up as a year for the Jammers to make big waves in the 8-man Large School class.
Per Coach Christie: "We are very excited for this season. It was a super productive Conditioning Camp and two weeks of double sessions. This year's team features a great mix of veteran upperclassmen who have been working this system, both offensively and defensively, for 3 to 4 years, and a hungry group of underclassmen who are involved in every practice and learning a lot. season.

Camden Hills wants to make sure that past Jammer players feel welcome on what will always be their turf. The program invites players from the past to take the field for a brief on-field recognition between 1st and 2nd quarters of the Homecoming match-up.
