F. Robin Saltzman Gordon, obituary
ROCKPORT — On February 6, 2025, F. Robin Saltzman Gordon, “Flash,” age 65, of Rockport, passed at MaineHealth’s Pen Bay Hospital. She was welcomed by God’s loving embrace and was reunited with her husband, mother, father, and her many pets that all predeceased her. A devoted friend and caregiver, Robin leaves behind a legacy of support, service, hard work and generosity. She was brave and strong until the end.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on March 13, 1959, to Alvin and Elaine Saltzman, Robin grew up in Brooklyn, graduating in 1977 from Midwood High School. Robin moved to Maine with the love of her life, Sy, and they had a wonderful life together. She tirelessly took care of him when he was terminally ill and grieved his death forever after his passing. Many years after the death of Robin’s father, when her mother became ill, Robin moved her to Maine. She built a totally handicap accessible home adjacent to her own and took excellent care of her mother’s every need until her passing. Robin was heartbroken by this and missed both her parents terribly.
She earned her nursing degree at the University of Maine, Augusta, class of 1985. Proud of our country, Robin felt honored to serve as a Captain and nurse in the US Army. For many years, Robin worked as a nurse, caring for and supporting her patients at Pen Bay Medical Center, Maine State Prison, and later worked as a home health nurse taking care of severely disabled children with seizures. She exemplified bravery when she switched careers and drove an 18-wheeler truck on long hauls through many states.
Robin was supported and loved by many friends and family. Her heart was huge, full of love and generosity for all the people in her life. Robin was very active and involved in helping others with alcohol addictions. She most recently received her license and bachelor’s degree in substance and addiction counseling. She developed many loving relationships with friends working on the same cause; they became her second family.
Robin loved her pets as children and had many over the years. Gigi and Liberty will be well taken care of by a sweet friend who adopted them. She was very generous to many charities and supported the local animal shelters.
A very adventurous person, Robin had many hobbies, including being outdoors and on the water. Musically inclined, she was a great guitar player, and a beautiful singer. She enjoyed her time with the local Camden choir. A knitter, she created several beautiful pieces. An excellent marksman with an accurate shot, she liked practicing shooting her guns. Also, she enjoyed riding her many motorcycles throughout her life, even at times on the winter ice.
Robin’s friendliness, generosity, strength, loyalty, humor and unwavering support for her friends and family will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
