Etta (Tucker) Walker, obituary
THOMASTON — On the afternoon of Sunday, February 16, 2025, the Lord welcomed Etta Amanda (Tucker) Walker to her permanent home in heaven.
She was born August 9, 1953, to Everett and Arletta (Ray) Tucker of Cherryfield. She was the oldest of their four children. Growing up, Etta spent time at the family business, Ocean Breeze Cabins and Cottages in Milbridge. She attended Cherryfield Academy and later graduated from Narraguagus High School in Harrington. Etta received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maine in Machias and followed in her father’s footsteps as a teacher. She dedicated her life to educating high school students and began her teaching career at Glen Cove Christian Academy. Many years were also spent teaching at George’s Valley High School in Thomaston. Family was very important to Etta. She cherished family holidays and trips to Disney World together.
Etta was predeceased by her parents, Everett and Arletta Tucker; a brother Everett Jr, formerly of Cherryfield; a brother-in-law, John Caruso; and a nephew, Christopher Swanson.
She is sadly missed by her husband of 35 years, Stephen Walker of Thomaston; sisters, Lisa Caruso of Hampden, Trudy (Charles) Heanssler of Rockport; a brother-in-law, Arthur (Elizabeth) Walker of Anchorage; nephews, Micah (Amanda) Heanssler, Joshua (Rebecca) Heanssler, Matthew Swanson; niece Katie Swanson; and Christopher’s wife Dorothy Swanson; three great-nieces; three great-nephews and numerous special cousins.
The family invites relatives and friends to call Wednesday, February 26, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland.
Spring interment will be at Pinegrove Cemetery, Cherryfield.
