David Wayne Day, obituary
ROCKLAND — David Wayne Day, of Rockland, Maine, passed unexpectedly in his sleep on February 21, 2025. He was born on July 1, 1963 in Hyannis, Massachusetts to Mary Marceline and Talmadge Day, both deceased.
David grew up in Harwich on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. David graduated from Harwich High School in 1981 and joined the United States Marines. David served at Naval Base Bremerton in Washington. David then pursued a career as First Executive Chef of fine restaurants around the country. David began his culinary pursuits at Harbor Point restaurant in Cummaquid on Cape Cod as Head Chef. David's career took him to Florida and California as an Executive Chef. David then settled with his family in Rockland, Maine becaming Food and Beverage Director at The Samoset Resort for 23 years. David served with great distinction at The Samoset Resort and was well respected in his field.
David is survived by his son Ryan James Day and his son Damon Aaron Day, both of Bangor, Maine; Laure Day of Liberty, Maine, former wife and mother to Ryan and Damon; sister Valarie Day of Levant Maine; sister Jennifer Susan Marceline of Dennis Port, Massachusetts and her partner Douglas "Giggles" Granville; brother Eric C. Marceline and family of Fall River, Massachusetts.
Also survived by his step-mother, Sharon Day of Sandwich, Massachusetts and his step-father, Edward Marceline of Orleans, Massachusetts; nieces Tiffany Spence and her family of Scotland and Jennifer Dunlop and her family of California. David is also survived by many cousins in South Carolina and Georgia.
David was a wonderful Dog Dad to his boy Ludo who passed in 2024, and to his Newfoundland "Bear" and his 2 cats. David was also "Uncle" to Jenn and Doug's dog Baxter.
David will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and his family at The Samoset Resort.
A Celebration of Life will be held March 23, from 12 - 3 p.m., at The Samoset Resort in Rockport, Maine. A service will be held at a later date at The National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts with full Military Honors.
