Carolee M. Hyssong, obituary
ROCKPORT — Carolee M. Hyssong, age 98, died November 10, 2024, six days short of her 99th birthday.
Born in St. George, November 16, 1925, she was the daughter of Ralph H. and Gladys L. Wilson. She was a 1944 graduate of Rockport High School.
Carolee married Dell R. Hyssong on June 29, 1946. They lived in Portland for six years before moving to Camden where they became longtime members of Rockport Baptist Church. Upon retirement, Carolee and Dell moved to South Carolina for ten years before returning to Maine.
During her time at Rockport Baptist Church, Carolee was a Deaconess, a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Ladies’ Missionary Society, and very active in the Lord’s work. Carolee’s favorite verse in the Bible was Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ, which strengtheneth me.” Her favorite hymn was “In the Garden.” Later in life, Carolee and Dell enjoyed membership at the West Rockport Baptist Church.
Carolee was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved to travel with her beloved husband, enjoyed making beautiful embroidery and decorating cakes, and will be remembered for always smiling.
Carolee is predeceased by her sisters, Leoline A. Hyssong and Lillian G. Frye; and her son-in-law Steven Hatfield.
She is survived by her husband, Dell R. Hyssong; her daughter, Carolee H. Hatfield; her son, Rev. Dell R. Hyssong, Jr. and his wife Susan; three grandsons; five great-grandchildren; two nieces, and four nephews.
It was Carolee’s wish that no formal funeral services be held. Memorial donations may be made to The Hyssongs Family Ministries, PO Box 525, Rockport, Maine 04856.
