Camden Snow Bowl closes all Snow Bowl operations
The following was distributed by the Camden Snow Bowl:
The Camden Snow Bowl has been actively monitoring the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and the most recent recommendations and guidance from local authorities, the office of Gov. Janet Mills and the state and national Center for Disease Control and Prevention. The Camden Snow Bowl met with town officials Monday morning and as a result, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close all Snow Bowl operations as of today, March 16.
The decision to end the ski season was not made lightly and was made for the greater good of our community, including our staff. Due to the nationwide calls to practice social distancing to "flatten the curve," it is clear that this is the only appropriate and responsible course of action for us to take.
We urge our community to join us in working to remain healthy, practice good hand hygiene, cover coughs and sneezes, and stay home if you are sick. If you are concerned that you have been exposed to COVID-19, call your health care provider, who will determine whether you should be tested and next steps.
Regarding outdoor public use of the Snow Bowl Recreation Area, the Post Season Uphill Policy is now in effect. That policy states:
- Use alpine trails at your own risk, call 911 if you need help
- Be aware of equipment that may be on the mountain during regular hours (7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday)
- The maintenance shop driveway and parking area is closed to the public at all times
The situation surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic is constantly evolving. We will provide more information if it becomes necessary.
