Camden Hills Regional High School Mountain Bike team wins Eastern Division
Camden Hills Regional High School Mountain bike team has won the Eastern Division of the Northern New England Mountain Bike Series. And last weekend, they traveled to Woodstock, Vermont, for the New England Championships, finishing seventh amongst 25 regional teams.
The Windjammers took the Eastern Division highest rank, competing against eight other Maine and New Hampshire teams: Gould Academy, Berlin/Gorham, Kents Hill School, Fryeburg Academy, Kennett High School (North Conway, N.H.), Southern Maine Syndicate, and Carabassett Valley Academy.
"We won three out of the five races we entered and placed second in the remaining two races," said Coach Chris Rogers.
Team captains were Zeke Deiter and Eli Hood.
Standout individual results within the entire league of nearly 400 riders included:
Cora Gates was second out of nine in the 10th-grade girls dvision and fourth out of all 52 girls;
Zeke Dieter was sixth; Iain Larsen-Levins, 23rd; Eli Hood, 28th; and Elliot Condon, 29th out of 77 senior boys;
Zeke won the Camden Hills home race;
Oliver Lee was fourth out of 82 11th-grade boys. Oliver also won the Chop Point School race;
Nick Rogers (of Medomak Valley) was fifth; Elijah Hovenessian, 18th; Ward Morrison, 26th; and Caleb Car, 55th out of 87 10th-grade boys; and,
Jacob Breda was 16th; Jude Wight, 29th; and Ethan Hamilton, 75th out of 96 ninth-grade boys.
