Bridge the divide
The recent election has underscored deep divisions within our society, highlighting an urgent need for initiatives that foster community-building, resilience, and hope. At Trekkers, we know that youth mentoring programs are crucial in helping young people build connections and bridge our divides.
Our programs help young people develop empathy, a sense of community, and the knowledge that their voice matters. Trekkers offers experiences that give students opportunities to see the world from different perspectives, fostering understanding and mutual respect. These experiences are not just beneficial for the students; they enrich the lives of our mentors and the broader community.
As Trekkers’ new Executive Director, it has been a huge honor to meet people all across the Trekkers community. It’s been striking to meet so many alums of the program who, in their roles all across Midcoast Maine and beyond, serve as community leaders who lead with a deep desire and ability to seek understanding and build community.
It is crucial that we continue making this impact on generations to come.
By supporting youth mentoring programs, we can equip young people with the tools they need to navigate a complex world with optimism and resilience. We can help them become thoughtful, engaged citizens who are prepared to lead with compassion and integrity.
We invite the community to join us in this vital mission. Your donations can make a significant difference in the lives of young people, providing them with the support they need to thrive. Together, we can create a more empathetic and compassionate society.
Please consider making a donation to support Trekkers youth mentoring programs at trekkers.org/donate.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Stephanie Welch is executive director of Trekkers
