ROCKPORT – The Midcoast Recreation Center Skating School skaters presented their annual "Celebration on Ice" show Sunday at the Midcoast Recreation Center.
The show, which featured local skaters of all ages, featured many traditional holiday music pieces with some very talented skaters performing.
Molly Spindler Smith, director of the program and 2014 U.S. Adult National Silver Ice Dance Champion with her husband and MRC coach Adam Smith, skated to "Baby It’s Cold Outside".
The opening group number featured the Figure Skaters and Learn to Skate Basic Skills group skating to a segment of music from A Charlie Brown Christmas.
Performers and their music were as follows, the entire cast, “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, Maddie Martens, “Let It Snow”, Cat Nguyen, “O’ Holy Night”, Moly and Adam Smith, “Baby It’s Cold Outside”, Brynn Kooyenga, “Baby, Please Come Home”, Greta Curtis, “Last Christmas”, Kimmy Roman, “Christmas Is”, Gail Curtis, “Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy”, Lexi Tinch, “Christmas Lights”, Jenna Taylor and Adam Smith, “Willow Waltz”, Willow Grinnell, “Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, Elena Laustsen, “Con Te Partiro”, Intro to Dace, Lydia Bragg, Gail Curtis, Greta Curtis, Alexis Hilt, Taylor Hodgdon and Jenna Taylor, “The Canasta Tango”, Ashley Pezanowski, “River”, Lily McVetty, “Sleigh Ride”, and Willow and Brynn, “Santa Baby”.
“Santa Baby” ended with the arrival of Santa Claus much to the delight of the good sized crowd who had enjoyed the show and were waiting to get on the ice for a skate with Santa.
The group collected new toys and stuffed animals to donate to the Ronald McDonald House. They also had a great bake sale to help support the worthy cause.
The Midcoast Recreation Center offers lessons for children and adults. Classes are offered Saturday mornings. The next session of lessons starts Saturday, Jan. 3. For more information regarding lessons call 236-9400, or go to www.midcoastrec.org.
