Bay Chamber in search of Young Music All-Stars for upcoming programs
CAMDEN — Are you a budding Itzhak Perlman? Do you know a burgeoning Daniel Barenboim? Bay Chamber is accepting applications for two programs that honor outstanding young musicians in the state of Maine. The Young Stars of Maine Award program and Envision Workshop recognize, encourage, and reward music students who are serious in their study and performance of music.
The opportunities are part of Bay Chamber’s 60-year tradition of lifting up young musicians through educational and performance opportunities. Previous award winners and workshop participants have gone on to perform professionally and earn advanced music degrees, according to Bay Chamber, in a news release.
The Young Stars of Maine program awards prizes to students between the ages of 12 and 25 ranging from $500 and $1,000. Among the nine categories are awards for soloists and ensembles, classical and jazz musicians.
There is a $40 application fee and a deadline of April 11. Applicants who advance to the next level will be granted a live audition on May 4 and prize winners will perform a May 22 prize winners’ concert in Bay Chamber’s Hammer Hall. See the Young Stars of Maine Award page on Bay Chamber’s website for more information.
The Envision Workshop is a weeklong immersive chamber music seminar from August 4-8, 2025, that celebrates the joy of music making in a supportive environment. Open to string and piano students ages 9-18, the workshop is designed to inspire musical and personal growth while giving participants a chance to get to know other young musicians. The program concludes with a final concert for friends and family. There is a $50 application fee and a deadline of April 25. See the Envision Workshop page on Bay Chamber’s website for more information.
