Author Stephanie Mulligan dives into Maine's maritime traditions at South School
ROCKLAND — South School was delighted to welcome celebrated author Stephanie Mulligan for an engaging and educational Author Night this May. Mulligan presented her popular interactive read-aloud book, How to Catch a Keeper, captivating students, parents, and faculty with her vibrant storytelling and insightful exploration of lobstering along the coast of Maine.
The event kicked off with Mulligan highlighting the importance of fostering a love for reading and learning through unique experiences. Mulligan, known for her ability to bring Maine topics to life, did not disappoint. Her presentation of How to Catch a Keeper was both entertaining and informative, offering attendees a window into the fascinating world of lobstering.
Throughout the evening, Mulligan engaged the audience with interactive elements, encouraging participation from young readers. Children were invited to ask questions, share their thoughts, and even partake in a simulated lobstering experience of measuring and banding rubber lobsters, creating a memorable and immersive learning environment.
