"Lincoln: Evolution of a President" public lecture by Erin Bishop, former Education Director of the Lincoln Library and Museum in Illinois, 7 p.m. at the Camden Public Library, as part of the library's Civil War Series.
Friday, Aug. 22
Free walking tour of Camden, 4 p.m, hosted by the Camden Public Library and the Downtown Business Group, begins at library. Tours last an hour; reservations are encouraged, call the library at 236-3440.
Saturday, Aug. 23
"How Maine Saved the Union" with author Jerry Desmond, 2 p.m. at the Camden Public Library, as part of the library's Civil War Series.
Living history re-enactors from the 20th Maine Company B will be camping in Camden's Harbor Park and hosting a day-long program of mini-lectures, displays, military drill, and firing drill, as part of the Camden Public Library's Civil War Series.
Tuesday, Aug. 26
Earle Shettleworth, Maine State Historian, presents a pictorial review of the Civil War, "Maine Civil War Photography," with vintage photographs, 7 p.m. at the Camden Public Library, as part of the library's Civil War Series.
Thursday, Aug. 28
The Medicine of the Civil War, by Dr. Richard Kahn, with historical medical paraphernalia, 7 p.m. at the Camden Public Library, as part of the library's Civil War Series.

"The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex," an illustrated lecture by Dick Cornelia, about the sinking of the Essex in the Pacific. 1 p.m. at the Camden Public Library, as part of Windjammer Festival. The true story of the Essex was the source of Melville's Moby Dick.
Thursday, Sept. 4
Author Paul Doiron of Camden presents the latest in his Poacher's Son series, The Bone Orchard, 7 p.m. at the Camden Public Library.
