Retirees luncheons, Bingo, and companionship every Friday at John Street Methodist Church in Camden
CAMDEN — Some people called "Senior Citizens" may not be aware of things going on in the Camden area. You can find good companionship, a nice luncheon and a Bingo game to join.
Every Friday morning about 11 a.m., a great group of men and women from Camden, Lincolnville, Rockport, Hope, Rockland, and places in between gather at the John Street Methodist Church to enjoy good company. Bingo is played for less than an hour, and many nice prizes are won.
Then dinner is served, cooked by Meals on Wheels and served by many pleasant volunteers. There is always coffee, tea, juice, a healthy lunch and dessert for only $4.
Flowers are given for the tables, and if your ticket has one of the lucky numbers, you go home with the petty flowers.
Gerry Simonton entertains with a few jokes, Gianini Ames handles the tickets, reads the winning Bingo cards, and presents the gift. Ron Leadbetter calls off the Bingo numbers.
There is a kitchen full of volunteers every Friday to keep your coffee cup filled, serve your lunch, clear the plates, serve dessert, and treat you like royalty.
All are welcome. The door will be open, and bring a friend, or two.
